Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dauphin1974 for this pointer to Wikimapia. It's essentially Google Earth with a wiki attached to it -- you can define regions on the "world", and wiki entries for those regions. He recommends (and I concur) drilling down to Cambridge, and looking around; I see that the Harvard crowd has already defined a bunch of the buildings and stuff there. Unfortunately, the search function doesn't seem to work correctly yet. But it's still fun to play with.

Funky toy. Odd to be entering the same things into it at the same time as other people (I entered a couple of Harvard Sq. items and when I refreshed, saw that others had done some of the same ones).

I did have a bit of fun and added a geek location point from "Lost"

As near as I can tell, the search function only seems to search the keywords, not the name or descriptions that are entered.
