It is oddly amusing to realize that my longtime fondness for Earl Grey tea almost certainly owes its origins to Star Trek: The Next Generation...

Mr Man is absolutely convinced that the I started the Still Room in direct response to my affinity for playing with Alchemy in our Morrowind: The Elder Scrolls XBox game.

He might be right.

I just can't seem like Earl Grey. I keep trying it and trying it...

Fortunately, Janeway drinks coffee. :)

Yes. And time temporal anomalies give her a headache. Thus, if you desire to meddle with the space-time continuum without application of analgesics, don't drink coffee :)

I think you might have a flaw in your logic there... Granted, I'm not 100% sure, but it looks that way.

Perhaps I'll be certain after a cup of coffee. ;)

I love your icon! Have you tried any of the flavored Earl Greys out there, like Tealuxe's Blue Flower Earl Grey or Creme de la Earl Grey? I find them much more intriguing and tasty than plain old Earl Grey.

(But I do confess, Justin, that Picard is the man who convinced me to give Earl Grey tea another try, after years of swearing I only liked sugary teas. Luckily, I am beyond the sugar stage, now.)

Thanks! I'm pleased with it (the icon, I mean).

I haven't tried the flavored teas, mostly because the times I've tried Earl Grey have left me with a bad taste in my mouth, so to speak. I don't like the lemon flavor - I take my tea with milk.

I have enough other teas that I adore that I figure I don't really need another one. (There are currently 16 tins of different teas on my desk at work, after all. I think that's enough. ;)

Technically, bergamot is in the orange family -- but if you don't like it, it doesn't much matter which family it's in, eh?

Love the lesbian sex icon!

I liked it before then, but it is a pleasant echo.

You may have seen the newspaper article a year or so ago that he was sent a fancy tea set by the current Earl Grey.

Considerably earlier than "last year". Some googling turned up the following:
The following is a paraphrase of information that appeared in the People
column of the 25 December 1994 issue of the San Jose Mercury News.

Earl Grey's tea appreciate the space trip

The Sixth Earl Grey, a member of the British House of Lords and
heir to the original Earl Grey, former Bristish prime minister,
has taken notice of our beloved starship captain's penchant for
the beverage named after his ancestor. As a reward for Picard's
faithful advertisement for the beverage, the earl sent Patrick
Stewart, who plays Picard, a special commemorative tea service.

The 22-karat-gold-embellished tea service, one of only 500 made
and with an estimated value of $495, was designed by the Countess
Grey, and presented to Stewart as he entered Manhattan's Richard
Rodgers Theater where he was performing his one-man rendition of
``A Christmas Carol.'' Along with the tea service was a note
from the Earl Grey which said,
I have been interested to observe the character you
have so successfully portrayed in ``Star Trek: The
Next Generation'' has a penchant for the beverage
that bears my family name. As you have now become
one of the most famous Earl Grey tea-drinkers in
the world, I would like to take this opportunity to
present to you a ``Heritage'' Limited Edition Earl
Grey tea set to commerorate its introduction into
the U.S.

That's the one. I heard about it last year, though. What was your name again? ;)

Not even Captain Picard could inspire me to drink Earl Grey.
I just can not get over the sense that I am drinking men's cologne.

For ConJose's Star Trek Jeopardy!, I wrote a category titled "Ts Other Than Earl Grey Hot"; focused on middle initials and the names of Vulcan females. Never really cared for Earl Grey tea, although I'm definitely a significant tea drinker.
