Okay, I'm amused by the current meme going around, so I'll join in. Stealing the text shamelessly from [livejournal.com profile] cellio, who states it clearly and concisely:

If I'm on your friends list, how do you know me? (I know that in some cases it's obvious.)

Also, if you feel like it, please give a tiny little blurb about yourself. Tell me where you're from, what you're interested in, a little relevant information like that.

[...] how do you know me?

Mostly by reputation and "friend of a friend" (specifically through [livejournal.com profile] cellio mainly, but your name came up often enough when AEthelmearc was still part of the East and the Debatable Lands and Carolingia had more active cross-fertilization.)

[...] please give a tiny little blurb about yourself. Tell me where you're from, what you're interested in, a little relevant information like that.

I'm a software developer who's been in Pittsburgh since moving here to go to CMU in 1985. I spent a big chunk of 2001 in Boston (flying back for the weekend every few weeks) at a client's site, but unfortunately never took the time to hook up with the SCA crowd up there.

In the SCA, I was seneschal of the Debatable Lands in the early 90s (when we had our first Baronial succession in well over a decade, during Sedalia's term as EK seneschale and the early days of the Principality of AEthelmearc.) I used to be more of a dancer but am several years out of practice. I'm also active in music and theater, and board games (where Dani regularly cleans my clock) I'm not a herald, but am pedantic and can project, which has sometimes proven close enough :-)

I know you from the SCA here in Carolingia. You were pointed out as one of the Felding Favor holders and therefore, a safe ride home, if needed. :)

I'm currently an assistant in a law library in Boston, and enjoying myself immensely. I'm seriously out of touch with the SCA right now, since I stopped going to dance practice regularly. It just made me very uncomfortable, so I stopped going. I think I've been to two events in the past three years, though I may run out to May Day this year...

I grew up in Wellesley and then moved out to Colorado with my parents. And then moved back to Wellesley. While I was there, I met my husband and have now been married for 3 1/2 wonderful years. :) I like gaming more than just about anything and do a fair amount (usually more than I really have time for). I love to do theatre, though I'm not very good, and singing. Some day when I have time again, I will do another MITGSP production.

You made some insightful and interesting comments in [livejournal.com profile] alienor's journal.

Also, if you feel like it, please give a tiny little blurb about yourself. Tell me where you're from, what you're interested in, a little relevant information like that.
I'm originally from Leicester, England (moved when I was 7). I now live in upstate South Carolina with my husband of 5 years and my 17 year old cat Minerva. My main SCA interest is 12th century England. I also dabble in other areas. I have lots of varied interests outside the SCA. Unitarian Universalism and other religions, alternative healing, and deep ecology are a few of them. Career-wise, I am an unemployed computer programmer.

You're one of the cool kids

You know all this . . .

You were one of the first people to "friend" me when I came on LJ.

You are one of the most respected people in the most respected barony in the SCA.

I am in love with your wife (Well, I am a protege-brother to your wife).

You rock!

Me? I teach high school history and do some writing on the side. I post waaaay too much on the internet, and I have a good soul.

I am a shy pixie, birthed out of the waking dreams of an autistic four-year-old, left behind to wander the world of daylight when the child's mind moved on completely to the shadow realms. I live under the branches of a weeping willow tree, in the hollow space between the trunk and where the leaves brush the ground - on windy days, the lowest twigs turn into tiny ponies for me to ride.

We met one hot August morning, as I'm sure you'll remember, when we realized we were both breaking our fast on the same pine needle. My hair got tangled around your teacup, and you nearly fell to your death trying to pull it loose. A sliver from my tree stuck under your fingernail, and I have been compelled to follow you, ever since....

I think I found you through some comments you made in [livejournal.com profile] cellio's journal about the SCA. I enjoy talking and thinking about the SCA and so I added you to my list.

About me... you classified me as an SCA philosopher once, a description I find amusing (and resolved that someday I'm going to Pennsic to meet your household!). I live in southern Atlantia (modernly upstate South Carolina). I'm interested in music, games, and finding ways to feel more 'medieval' at events. Outside of the SCA I'm exploring Unitiarian Universalism and finding ways to deal with near constant health problems.

Stock answer to nearly everybody whose blog I'm answering in: We met in the SCA.
Additional reply: I'm your Evil Twin(tm) :) For those who haven't heard the story before, now's probably as good a time to tell it. We're both married to heralds. :D Both couples attended a heraldic symposium in the East Kingdom. When Justin saw me across the room, he tapped his wife on the shoulder, pointed me out and said "Honey, isn't that *me* standing over there?" We not only looked very similar, we were dressed almost identically as well. I was amused by the number of people who thought they saw you from a distance, approached me, started talking and then suddenly realized that I wasn't Justin! BTW, congrats on the 2nd peerage!

Also, if you feel like it, please give a tiny little blurb about yourself. Tell me where you're from, what you're interested in, a little relevant information like that.

Stock answer: I'm a computer programmer/web designer who has been doing it for so long that I can remember writing computer programs on punch cards and papertape! (I'm NOT kidding!) Originally from Buffalo, New York, I now live in Fredonia, about 60 miles southwest of Buffalo, in a 130 year old Victorian farmhouse on six acres with my wife and a kindle of cats. I can't imagine living anywhere else right now. My interests are variable and subject to change with time. They are currently: juggling; puppetry; SCA; SF; writing fiction, non-fiction, and poetry; letterboxing. Feel free to ask additional questions.

We met through LARPing. I'm not sure which or when but I've known you for a number of years. You are a cool person.

I live in Nashua because I can afford it, the restaurants are good (too good) and many friends live near enough. I am still unpacking. I am a nerd. I like to make fun things happen. I am waiting for Faire season. I care too much about many things, big and small.

OK, I've just added you to my friends list, if you don't mind. I met you, online at least, through some comments you made in [livejournal.com profile] alienor's journal and found your entries to be interesting. What other reason is there?
I'm in the SCA (surprise!). While I don't specifically remember meeting you (OK, you get old, your brain gets fuzzy, sorry), I played up in the EK for years and years and went to Carolingia often enough that odds are we actually have met in person, possibly even danced with each other. Steffan of Silverwing will probably remember me if you ask him. I do remember him - he was the very first person who ever danced with me in the SCA! ("Carolingian" pavane, it was.) I was know as Rowan then, I have red hair and am apprenticed to Mistress Arwen.
I sing classically (lyric soprano, semi-pro), taught private voice, am in school for Speech-Path to do voice science & therapy, have done biochemical research, accounting, and cosmetology (still licensed); interested in history, music, ME dance, cooking, SF/Fantasy, sewing, making stuff with string, vaguely Pagan leanings but by necessity a musical mercenary (I praise whichever god pays me, currently a Lutheran one), and read all sort of shiny little bits and pieces about almost anything to squirrel away in my intellectual horde, although not a whole lot of in-depth stuff. I like looking at cats, squirrels, lizards, and trees - although not at the same time - because I just do (it's not very explainable).

We met online in the early days of the Rlaito. Mostly we talked about dancing. Eventually I noticed that you have cool ideas about lots of things and that you write well, and I started paying more attention. (Between you and Steffan, I think I have a picture of the characteristics of the ideal Silverwing. :-) ) Somewhere along the line we actually met (in the SCA, of course), but I don't remember the specifics. Probably late 80s. When the "troubles" happened beginning in 1994, you were one of the prominent voices of reason.

We don't get to spend nearly enough time hanging out and gabbing with each other. Let's make a stab at fixing that at Pennsic, ok?

Me: SCA person, music geek, religion geek, speaker to programmers, occasional con-goer, Pittsburgher, writer, sometimes-pedant, rambler. :-)

I met you at dance on wednesdays, either the first day i was there or shortly there after. I have since become involved in the SCA, and significantly more active on LJ than I had been in the recent past.

I am Isabel, a member of that new borough, Greenwood Isle, and originally from Andover. I am about to graduate with a degree in American history and minors in English Lit & elementary edu...planning on going straight for my masters in Elementary edu.
