Building spoof webpages isn't necessarily silly. It can turn into something lucrative; take The Blair Witch Project for example. Hard to believe that site is still active.
It's a much better hobby than starting up one of those pervasive 'net myth letters ("Bill Gates will send you a thousand dollars if you send email to..."). I truly loathe those.
