Reminder: Spoiler warnings and cut tags

Just a gentle reminder to everyone that not all of us are going to read The Book in the first 24 hours. Personally, it's going to take a week or two -- having listened to Jim Dale tell the entire story so far, I'm going to stick with him for the last volume, and continue to "read" it on CD.

So please: keep in mind those of us who are going to take such a ridiculously long time to catch up on the cultural milestone of the day, and keep the spoilers behind cut tags...

Ditto for me - I'm so burned out on rereading the other books that I don't think I'll start this one until I'm on my way to Pennsic.

Alas, I'm getting tired of Jim Dale's too-similar voices. I think the tipping point was when Fenrir Greyback sounded just like at least five other characters...

But I still love listening to the books, and will keep cuts in place so you don't have to deal with leaks from me.

I can understand that, but I have some sympathy for Dale -- he's a storyteller, not a mimic, so he's only got a dozen or so really distinct voices. It's enough that all the *main* characters are quite distinct from each other, but I agree that some of the minor characters overlap with some of the major ones, and with each other.

Still and all, he's a fine reader, and it's a fun way to "read" the stories. And after the better part of ten years, it's tradition for me. (And the timing is excellent: I'm visiting my mother in Amherst tomorrow, so that gives me a leisurely five hours with the story...)
