The Deathly Hallows

I'm continuing my way through The Book at a leisurely pace, savoring it over a week or two. But I just got to the start of Chapter 21 as I pulled into work, and would have fallen out of my seat if I hadn't been driving.

The eye in the triangle is the sign of The Deathly Hallows? It's the little-known sign they use to identify each other?

Holy crap -- they're the Wizarding Freemasons. They're even using one of the stereotypical Masonic sigils. I'm *really* looking forward to seeing where this is going...

*coughs* Yes, and no.

It's a triangle, with a circle inside it, and a line running vertically through it: more like a snake's eye, and very abstract.

The relation to Masonic symbols I have seen is vague at best (worst).

I keep seeing an upside down equilateral triangle, with a circle in it, bisected by a line.

And then I start thinking of genitalia.

Oh, well. I'm sure that wasn't what was intended.

I don't know enough about free-masonry to have spotted some of the parallels, but you may be disappointed with how little is covered on this aspect. Please let us know when its all over.
