A good week

I am occasionally reminded of why I focus so much on the newer members, especially the boroughs. This week was a fine reminder of the answer: because I simply find it *fun*.

May Day was a bit small, which was expected due to the weather. But it was a good day, not least because we had a bunch of new folks there. There were people from Fenmere I hadn't met before (as well as a lot of general Brandeis drop-ins), a couple of high schoolers who look to be very interested, and generally a bunch of new people of all ages and walks of life. I got to chat with a few of them, and teach some of them a bit of dance; as always, that helped enliven things a good deal.

Dance practice was exceptionally good this week, in substantial part because the newly-revived Ivory Keep showed up, supplementing the large number of new folks we have already gotten this year. They seem to be a great bunch, and I hope they decide that we're fun and worth continuing with. (The best way I can describe it is that they're "our kind of people" -- well-rounded, enthusiastic geeks who are into all kinds of stuff.) As a result, dance practice was particularly high-energy, reminding me that I always enjoy myself most when there are lots of enthusiastic new people to teach...

I wish I could have been there. Not just because I'm chatelaine, but because it also sounds like fun.
