Humph. My apologies to those who tried to follow my previous link and couldn't. CommYou crashed hard, for the first time in weeks. Don't know precisely what happened, but for some reason it seems to have lost its DB connection. I'll look into it, but I suspect it has something to do with bringing Openfire up on that machine, so that the IM stuff can go live soon.
Anyway, it's all working again, if you want to check out the conversation...

My take: I'd like having all three. I'm not sure how best to expose it to the user UI-wise, or what language to use - it could be framed in various different ways - but the core option seems really useful in managing the new problems that arise when you start mixing speeds in a single conversation.
Data: I read LJ in three ways. I have my "always check" group, my "check if there's time" group, and the odd journal that I don't follow regularly but will surf to every once in a while (2-10 months) just to check it out. Not exactly the same three categories, but hey.
