Okay, I don't exactly expect either high art or high intellect from this competition (unlike Miss Universe, which I actually enjoy and even respect a little). But two specific comments:
1) Quiz round? They've added a quiz round? ABC can't do anything without turning it into a version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. It's not just tacky -- it's downright crass.
2) Miss Maryland was robbed. She was smarter, more talented, more poised and more responsible than the lot of 'em. And it was very clear that the audience felt the same way I did: I've never heard them actually boo the judges when a contestant gets knocked out before...
(And when did I start paying more attention to the evening gown competition than the swimsuits, I wonder?)

They threw up the point count formula as the show and 30% of it was talent and evening wear, with Miss Florida did take. (And that lovely yellow gown!) But fourth? Even the host looked a little surprised when the boos started. Everything is supposed to be so happy-happy for all of the contestants.
