Huge slices of fresh rustic bread, toasted until just a little past golden. Small-batch apple jelly, direct from the orchard. Thick peanut butter with a ridiculous number of chunks. Combine; slice in half; enjoy.

One of the best peanut butter and jelly sandwiches I ever had was on a high quality multigrain bread, lightly toasted, home made concord grape jelly, direct from the neighbors vine, with thick natural style peanut butter.

PB+J seems to be the most mundane of lunches, and at most is described as a comfort food. Pushing the limitations of quality ingredients helps it rise above to near gourmet levels.
