Twitter is full of fail today

Attempts to post are frequently failing -- simply timing out. This makes me cranky, not least in that I'm putting a good deal of faith into a Scala infrastructure along somewhat similar lines to theirs...

I wonder if that had anything to do with the #amazonfail firestorm, and all its varied offsprings? Is your infrastructure prepared to handle the equivalent of a flash mob like that? 'cause any successful communication app will *eventually* have that happen...

Actually, that's not *strictly* obvious: CommYou is tuned for a somewhat different community "shape" (more LJ-ish), so it's probably not going to have quite the same failure modes. But yes, it's a concern. In the long run I'm sure we'll be able to handle it; in the medium term, it's possible that we'll have some painful lessons. (First, though, we need to get to the point where I like the functionality in the first place.)
