Cleaning

A random observation: msmemory and I are pretty well agreed that the house desperately needs to be rearranged, cleaned, and generally spruced up. So we need to play 15-puzzle with it, moving things around so that we have room to clean in. The problem, of course, is that our 15 puzzle has 16 pieces in it at this point.

So expect to see lists of things available for hauling away, preparatory to them being left out on the curb. I suspect one could furnish entire apartments with the amount of crap we need to get out of this house...

Best of luck. You'ld think that moving into an apt twice the size would alleviate that problem. Somehow, it didn't - we still live in a 15-puzzle with sixteen pieces! Great description...

Try it with 32 pieces! My folks recently sold their house. For over forty years two packrats have been living in a large double and using the second half for "storage". Now, they've moved into a small one family house. Their garage and basement are full. My front room and sun room are full. The old house that I still own in Buffalo has more stuff in it now then when I first moved out and left junk behind. The sheer amount of stuff is incredible. I'm going to be digging out all winter!

Yeah, this sounds familiar. msmemory's mother moved out of her house a few years back, and into a two-room apartment in an assisted-living facility. Of course, pretty much everything in the house was presented to us as, "do you want this, or should I throw it out?". With the result that, not only did our house get a lot more full, but we now have a packed-solid 10' x 20' storage unit as well...
