On the current Kingdom law brouhaha

Concisely: yes, I have strong opinions. Feel free to chat with me about them privately, but right now I have better things to do with my life than wade into the online fray. I've made them known directly to TRM, which is really the important bit, and I suggest that others with opinions do the same.

(Yes, it's strange to hear me declining a juicy debate. But if this past year has taught me anything, it is perspective about what I actually care about...)

Saw the list of new laws but as an out-Kingdomer I'm not in the fray. My reminder on the topics was that bad laws are usually repealed by the next royalty, or the next ones after that. This too shall pass and all that.

As I say at vigils, one of the real burdens of peerage is the responsibility to speak truth to power. It's easier when the Power is just some guy from Jersey or New York that you see at the odd event. This isn't so easy. I do understand about choosing your battles. It's lead, follow, or get outta the way. For this one, I choose to lead. It's very unpleasant. But I gotta do this.

Do your thing. We will always have drama in the SCA. But right now you're in a good "drama behind you, maybe drama ahead, but not drama right now" place. You're overdue for a little peace.
