Humph. 38. What a boring number.
Like many lifelong geeks, I have a natural affinity for numerology -- I automatically poke at any number to try and grasp its significance. Most birthdays are kind of interesting. 35 was the age that Dante was when the Divine Comedy (one of my favorite works of literature) was set, and was defined as "midway through life's journey" at the time, providing much reflection. 36 is a square, and a particularly aesthetic one in my opinion. 37 at least had the decency to be prime.
But 38? Just plain dull. Should have celebrated six months ago -- 37.5 is half of 75, which I've always considered an omenously interesting age...
