A note, mostly to myself. My experiences with soy milk haven't been joyous: I've found off-flavors that are off-putting. But I've been realizing lately that some of my stomach problems may be mild lactose issues, and so the morning latte I'm having a bit too often probably isn't helping. So today's experiment was soy instead of the usual skim milk.

Complete win: the soymilk version of the Skinny Vanilla is not just better-tasting than the skim milk version, it's better than the full-fat, full-sugar version. The flavors of the soy and iced coffee balance perfectly. So I appear to have a new favorite drink at Starbuck's...

At home, try Sweet Acidophilus.

Some find it helps. Others, not so much.

Good luck!

Almond milk is good too. (I discovered this at Pennsic.)

I've found that vanilla soy milk is really good in breakfast cereal if you're looking for another place to try it.

I've tried soy milk in cereal a number of times, which I believe have included vanilla, and never been happy with it for myself. It simply doesn't taste 'right' by comparison to what I've always had.

It took a little getting used to, yes, but I now prefer it. It's less heavy, and adds a nice amount of sweetness to the cereal.

Yup, and the natural sweetness of the soy (esp. vanilla soy) usually lets me get away with skipping the added sugar or simple syrup so I can cut back on calories as well. Yay for soy milk!

I'll also echo Jen's note about vanilla soy in breakfast cereal. Yum. My brand of choice is Silk, which you can buy in bulk at BJs.

I use 365 brand, which comes in half-gallon cartons as well as the standard soy milk carton.

Justin, Jen's point reminds me that I've found significant differences in the flavor of different brands of soy milk, so it's worth trying some different brands to find the one you like best.

I have never been to Starbucks, so I wouldn't know. But if they don't, they really should.
