Just heard on the news that Krispy Kreme in Medford is closing its doors, due to the company's money problems. I'll miss it (being one of those people who actually likes their donuts), but it's probably far better for my health this way...

[I've also taught her that if I say "Na na na na na na na na, Na na na na na na na na." she's supposed to say "Batman!"]

And now I'm snickering at my reception desk 'cause I use to watch that in reruns as a kid.

...and remembering [livejournal.com profile] matildalucet instilling some similar programming, only with the Messiah.

"Nana nana nana nana, nana nana nana nana, Messiah!"

I dunno. It lacks something.

Er?

some similar programming, only with the Messiah.

What, like: "Na na na na na na na na, JESUS!"

No. More like that the word wonderful should be immediately followed by the word counselor.

That and I still have most of the Alto part memorized.

I have the soprano part memorized, plus the alto and tenor entrances where the sopranos are silent. (We were very short on tenors in high school.)

I actually have all three memorized, because we had an uncertain number of people in each part from time to time....

I have most of the Alto and Soprano parts memorized.

What I don't have them is distinguished. "No, I don't know which line I'm singing."

Which is why I must have the score in front of me at sings. It doesn't mean I can sing the fiddly bits, but at least I have a clue.

lol.

You've heard me doing things I learned by ear!

Although most of what I know is actually the tenor part...but with occational excursions to alto and even soprano....

No fair! I wasn't trying to program you. I was rehearsing. It was a fortunate (for me) happenstance that y'all picked up enough to have something to do when I dragged you off to the midday sing downtown. I couldn't leave you at home because you were too young. Messiah Season was one of my ways of coping with holidays I couldn't eliminate.

Wanna get together at a Sing again this year? ;-)

It started with just the Hallelujah Chorus, which I picked up when my brother sang it. In the early, extremely sleep-deprived days of motherhood, when baby needed to eat every two hours day and night (yes, really, for that child) and screamed sometimes for reasons I just couldn't fathom, I would clutch baby to my chest, sit in the rocking chair rocky fiercely and bellow the Hallejah Chorus. Which baby appears to have decided was a gentle lullaby.

Baby's dad mentioned it to an office friend who gifted me with a score. And I learned more of the thing. Wasn't sure I liked it, still not sure actually, but sang it a lot. Poor kids had no choice but be immersed from late November through mid-December, when open sings ended.

Please tell me Handel does not constitute child abuse.
