Just heard on the news that Krispy Kreme in Medford is closing its doors, due to the company's money problems. I'll miss it (being one of those people who actually likes their donuts), but it's probably far better for my health this way...

Sigh.

I'm intensely glad that the KK is so far off my usual routes that I have to decide to go and be bad to get them. But I'm glad they're there.

Waaaaaa! We love KK! Little M can even recognize the sign, which I also have on a sweatshirt. She looks at it and says "Hot now!"

Parental brainwashing, isn't it beautiful?

[I've also taught her that if I say "Na na na na na na na na, Na na na na na na na na." she's supposed to say "Batman!"]

I remain true to Larry's in Ellsworth, Maine -- although my sister says that a hot KK is as good as Larry's. Since this is universally true of other fried food, I should really give it a go. There's one just over the state line in Pawtucket, on the way to her house....

There is a certain something to Krispy Kreme, which I suspect is a much higher sugar content. Their doughnuts are smaller, lighter, and somehow more expensive than at DD, but if you go and get them hot they are devilish.

is closing? Or has closed?
The one in Saugus already has the lights out and "thank you" signs in the windows suggesting customers look to Dedham (which suggests Medford is also gone)

Sigh. I never even got to go there.

Oh well... there are at least 5 Dunkin Donuts within a mile of my house, and it's not like I needed the calories anyway.
